Description

So I'm still working out how to paint traditionally. I've learned that it's hard to paint a landscape with small brushes, old brushes, and craft paint.  But those are what I have, and I think I need new supplies.  It was so hard to blend the clouds. I like the result a little, but I still wish I could do better. I just gotta keep practicing, I guess.

This painting is simple, but very pleasant. I could see it being sold in home decor stores or being hung in waiting rooms at doctor's offices to give patients a feeling of serenity and calmness.

The style of this painting very simplistic, with details being shown mostly through color gradients, such as the dark to light blue of the sea and of the sky, and the light to dark brown of the boat. This technique creates almost a storybook-like feel, and it gives the painting a lot of depth. Depth is also added by the effect of the shadow on the cloud behind the sailboat.

The one thing that I think takes away from this picture is the style of the clouds. They look a bit messy compared to the smooth blending of the boat and the sky and sea.

Overall, I enjoy this painting. It's very peaceful and provokes curiosity--Where is the ship going, and who is sailing it? Will the weather remain so peaceful?

You have captured the carefree feeling of being on the sea on a nice day very well.
