Rock Collection by JessiRenee Rock Collection by JessiRenee
Wanted to share with you guys. :D
I love shiny things, including stones.

*update* I've been able to identify most of the gems here!
2 Amethyst, 1 rough, 1 tumbled
2 Rose Quartz, 1 rough, 1 tumbled
2 Clear Quartz, 1 rough, 1 tumbled
1 Citrine, rough
2 Gold Tiger's Eye, tumbled
1 Red Tiger's Eye, tumbled
2 Turquoise, tumbled
1 Yellow Turquoise, tumbled
1 Snowflake Obsidian, tumbled
1 Green Aventurine, tumbled
1 Green Calcite, rough
2 Crackle Quartz (one pink, one blue. Crackle quartz is made by heat-treating clear quartz and then dying it. The heat makes nearly invisible cracks in the stone, until it is dyed. The dye only sticks to the cracks), tumbled.

Then there's my two blue ones that I don't know what they are.  One is rough and shiny - almost metallic looking, but it's very brittle. Looks like it's got some other minerals in the sample too, but it's mostly blue. The other blue one is tumbled, and it looks like it has been dyed, but not like the crackle quartz. In some parts its a cloudy/clear looking (not as clear as quartz), and the cloudy bands of blue (dye?) are of varying opacity.  So I don't know what it could be.  None of the jewelers around here can identify tumbled or raw stones (some jewelers they are), so all my findings have been from internet research and gem identifying books. :)

Thank you! I have two that I can hang on a necklace, the turquoise and the rose quartz.. but I never wear them, because I'm afraid the chain would break and I'd lose them ^^;  Tiger's eye used to be my favorite, but now I'm not so sure I have a favorite.  They're all so shiny and pretty :la:!!

Thank you! ;u;

A few of them, yeah. :D But she has WAY more than I ever did. And way more interesting ones (fool's gold, geodes, amethyst, quartz, agets, tiger's eye). Except for a fossil I found of a shellfish - now that was interesting. :) She even has a rock from Mount Rushmore. :giggle:

Wow! That's an amazing collection! It's hard to find geodes in Florida, but if my next paycheck allows, I'm probably gonna buy one. :D

We actually have great places to find geodes near my hometown. But most of the ones my sister has were bought. :giggle: Although there is a piece of pumice in the collection that my dad found for us one time. That's kinda close to the texture of a geode but not nearly as dense. And a couple geodes that aren't storebought - that my dad also found.

wow, pumice? That's so cool! Have you broken any of your geodes open to see what was inside?

We find some great rocks on the beach sometimes (they're often smooth, from being tumbled around in the ocean), but mostly we find just a lot of broken shells. :D

I know, right? :D I also have a piece of store bought pumice that I use to groom my horse (it exfoliates the places where the hair is thinner - like the face and ears). Yes! :giggle: That's always fun. :aww:

I love beachcombing! :boogie: Last time, my mom found two whole sanddollars! :wow: I almost always find a whole limpet shell and some nice tumbled stones. Occasionally some seaglass, too. One time, I found a tiny scallop shell that I used to make my sister a necklace. :)
